Fantastic performances by Helen Mirren and Jack Ellis in the fourth installment of the Tenyson series.
Jane Tenyson battles against the clock to find an abducted child whilst facing her own personal struggle to balance her private life with her career as a Superintendant.
This powerful story encapsulates everything that is missing from the crime thriller genre of today.
I love the Prime Suspect series; Helen Mirren is great as Tennison. But I have to say that this is definitely the weakest of the series. The shorter format also seems to weaken the quality of the story telling. If this was an experiment by the production team, it was quickly abandoned in time for the 5th serial. The longer running time certainly allows the tension to build much more effectively.
I enjoyed this film it was predictable and yet it drew you into the plot and walked you through the process. The sad thing is that it highlighted a horendous hypocrasy in that both women were guilty of the same crime and yet society chooses to condemn one and promote the other. All the time this is going on you are drawn into the seedy world of a corrupt pervert with even more social no no's.
This story kept you guessing and was a pacey stories with lots of twists and turns.
Enjoyed this very much. Haven't watched any other Prime Suspects and got this to see Robert Glenister. He was excellent as the suspected child abductor/paedophile. Very uncomfortable to watch at times but excellent performances all round. Highly recommend this.
