Great entertainment for the whole family

The whole family enjoyed this series from ITV which was originally shown on Saturday evenings. It was slightly more scary than the revived Dr Who series on BBC1 (well according to the kids) and despite a relatively unknown cast it had us gripped from the 1st episode.

It's not a scientifically accurate series (this would ruin the mass appeal of it) but it does mix scary dinosaurs with interesting stories and these appealed to all of us from age 5 to 36 ! Well done ITV for breaking the mold of reality tv offerings and doing something really entertaining. Our only gripe is that the series was too short and we now have to wait to see what is about to happen....

    Recommended for sci-fi fans

There just isnt enough dinosaur / time travel / wormhole related content on TV these days (was there ever?) so the real fans of this sci-fi genre will take what they can. So Primeval comes across as a little contrived; who cares? They're chasing pre-historic creatures through cracks in space-time into your back garden! I mean, come on! This is gold! If, however, that just doesn't do it for you, then you will have trouble forgiving the blatant girly posing and the wishy washy romantic sub plots. They have to lay it on thick to get the mainstream ratings. For me, this is a pretty cool show and given TV budgets, the computer graphics aren't that bad. If you've seen A Sound Of Thunder (again with CG dinos) you'll know what I mean. Take it for what it is. A refreshing bit of drama! With dinosaurs and more! Hurrah!
