Great entertainment for the whole family

The whole family enjoyed this series from ITV which was originally shown on Saturday evenings. It was slightly more scary than the revived Dr Who series on BBC1 (well according to the kids) and despite a relatively unknown cast it had us gripped from the 1st episode.

It's not a scientifically accurate series (this would ruin the mass appeal of it) but it does mix scary dinosaurs with interesting stories and these appealed to all of us from age 5 to 36 ! Well done ITV for breaking the mold of reality tv offerings and doing something really entertaining. Our only gripe is that the series was too short and we now have to wait to see what is about to happen....

    Pleasantly surprised

Wasn't expecting much of a new Saturday night ITV sci-fi show, but have been more than pleasantly surprised and was sad to see the series end. More than a match for something like Torchwood, which entertained me and annoyed me in equal measure.

True, it's a bit silly, but that's all part of the fun. The characters are likeable, there are some genuinely funny bits, and the special effects are impressive. A particularly genius move was to attract male viewers by incorporating a storyline about a pet prehistoric lizard that needs the temperature so high Hannah Spearritt appears in her knickers at least once every episode. Not that I'm complaining - I'm just happy to see the lovely Douglas Henshall in a leading role on prime-time tv, regardless of what he is or isn't wearing.

Hopefully in the second series we'll find out more about the life of time-travelling-bitchy-wife-woman. I mean, come on, with teeth that white she must have to pop back through the anomaly on a regular basis just to visit the hygenist, plus I'm intrigued to know where she gets her continuous supply of tight-fitting khaki shirts (maybe she nicks them off Michaela Stachan's washing line).

    Great

Missed this when it was shown on TV, so immediately added it to my list.

Only 6 episodes, but the wife and I really enjoyed this home-grown mini-series.

Let's hope they make a second series.

    A fair piece of work

I managed to see the last few episodes of this series and thought itwas alright. I watched this in oder to catch up on myself. The series is good if you are able to stretch your mind to believe in some strange ideas. I found it sucked me in as it was a catchy series.

    Fantastic!

My first five star award. How on earth some one can give this one star beggars belief. Visually stunning and dramatically rivetting, rent this outstanding piece of British TV making. Roll on the second series and hopefull the re-appearance of Cluadia Brown

Interesting take on timetravel and dinosaurs

What makes this stand out from most CGI monster animated films is the firm underlying storyline, to which the brilliantly-animated (the same team who did 'Walking with dinosaurs?) almost play a secondary role.

It starts off slowly, but as the episodes go past it builds up a tense plot on the sudden appearances of wormholes in space/time thru which dinosaurs /giant insects etc appear and cause havoc, and the efforts of a thrown-together team of university students and professor to deal with them and the race to learn how they are happening. A secondary love-story pulls you in, and the unexpected twists add to the story, and the plot isn't afraid to kill off some of the important characters so you never quite know what will happen next.

The series finale is excellent, as you realise that that not just terors from the past can come thru the wormholes, but what if one such wormhole appeared that connected to the far future....?

The best monster feature film so far, and amazingly its British too!
