I have a love / hate feeling towards this show, much of it is undeniably naff and poorly made (the action scenes are often like something thought up by small children with very little thought or imagination to them - though there was a significant improvement with the action this series), but I can't help but enjoy it's sense of fun and amusing banter between the characters, who despite being rather irritating at times, have an irresistable innocence and charm that is very likeable. Like when a puppy pees on the newly fitted carpet. Annoying, but just look at his little face! As mentioned, the action has improved with this series as have the special effects and there were times when I was genuinely impressed - the action was occasionally half-decent, sometimes even GOOD!!! But not very often. The acting isn't technically what you could possibly call good acting but it fits the fun style of the show and is satisfying enough. And the new characters were great, as likeable as the ones they replaced, sometimes more so. Infact, the overall standard of the programme was a notch higher this series in my opinion. Either that or I'm finally weakening to it's frustrating hypnotic trance. Possible. I complain about it's many flaws and moan on about it's inferior quality and yet there I am every week - five minutes early, eagerly awaiting the gang's next daft adventure. Dammit, I like it. There, I admitted it. With things like this, I'd normally suggest you turn your brain off to enjoy it. But for Primeval, you'd be better off shutting it down for good, unplugging it, stuffing it into a bottle with a small note saying 'Now I can enjoy Primeval' and hurling it into the sea. In all honesty though, it is entertaining and enjoyable. I never thought I'd hear myself type this, but I'm actually looking forward to series 4. Just when rumours are flying around that it may be the last series too. Typical! Still, only rumours. Let's hope they're wrong.
