disappointing
By a customer from London , 27 Jun 2009I love East Asian martial arts action films - but this disappoined. The story was thinner then thin, and the action was little more than adequate. Not recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

Cuts deeper than you would expect
By a customer from Birmingham , 19 Mar 2008Not a light disposable throw away young girl with sword slaying the bad guys type film. This is dark violent and more thought provoking than you may think. Cool stylish visuals mix with a fantastic concept. A totalitarian state that is never seen only glimpsed; just enough is seen to suggest it is much like the modern world that the viewer lives in.
The unusual setting allows the film to have a mixture of styles and reminds me of Ryuhei Kitamura films such as Azumi and Versus but this has more to say for itself and has a subtext that parallels the world and its problems today all rapped up in a film about age old ideals of love, loss, betrayal, and belonging.- Was this review helpful to you?

I was bored by this chick with a sword
By Paul Price from Torquay , 23 Jul 2007Normally the a slim young girl wielding a sword is enough to send me to movie heaven but I found this movie pretty dull.
It lacked the obvious excesses of Kill Bill or the balletic blood lust of Azumi.
The constant terminal soul searching by the main characters sucks any joy out the action scenes, which are decent enough when the arrive.- Was this review helpful to you?

Princess Blade
By Helen Hail from South Wales , 22 Jun 2007This might have been good, but unfortunately, it wasn't. The plot is fractured, the characters unlikeable and I've seen better fights in the Muppet Show, care of Miss Piggy!- Was this review helpful to you?
