brilliant series love it
Whats happened? I've been watching from Season 1 episode 1 and i am currently at season 4 episode episode 20.
The first 2 seasons were AMAZING! but by 3 it started to take a change and now it doesnt even involve a Prison, or even a break. If Its for the Prisons and Breaks you watch this then i advise that season 4 is not for you.
What a shame -- after three cracking series, Pris4 is fairly rubbish. Even if we fans could overlook the total lack of prison breaks, the perfunctory way certain (what shall I call them?) plot anomalies are glossed over is just, well, an insult to our intelligence. I thought at first that I wasn't enjoying it because Wenty and co. were all keeping their jackets on, so it lacked the sweaty muscularity that made such a delightful contrast to all that hyperintelligent plotting and scheming, but it was more than that. Perhaps the presence of vulnerable women and families to protect, plus the lack of machiavellian supermasculinity that comes with a prison setting, has rendered this just another clapped-out thriller that has passed its best. As ever, the characters inhabit a universe where their hair never grows and a moody look passes for communication, but the gripping-yet-preposterous histrionics are gone, and even the evil poetry of TBag seems watered down and dialled-in. It takes a long time to get going before a brief return to form in the middle. But then the second half is fairly dreadful. I wish I could say something specific about it without giving it away, but I can't so, suffice to say, It uses every televisual cheat in the book. It resurrects characters, takes huge, artless plot leaps, you name it. The pacing is terrible and they even resort to a dream sequence (the only time we see the inside of a prison, incidentally). It is more a '24' style conspiratorial thriller than the campy/brutal rollercoaster of seasons 1 to 3. Think McGyver meets The Prisoner, but not in a good way. Students of Psychoanalytic Film Theory are going to have a field day with -- certain female characters --- and hardcore fans will probably still find it watchable, but lets just say it was a disappointing, unsatisfactory way to finish the franchise. If you dont like your faves to let you down you might be better served by cutting your losses and stopping at the end of season 3

It was a great start to a long anticipated last series. It is just as gripping and addictive as it ever was and I can't wait to see the next disc. There were lots of unexpected twists to the tale.

The last series was awful so it was with a little reluctance that I gave this series a go. Ive only watched the first 3 episodes so far but its deffo worth watching. Prison break back to its best.
OK, so I can understand some people finding the series a trifle predictable and formulaic; sometimes it's good fun telegraphing just who is going to turn on who.....but then there are revelations and twists that hit you in the gut just when you thought you had it wrapped up. Energetic and frenetic, this series just doesn't let up. What makes it particularly enjoyable is how complex and in-depth the characters have become; all of them make morally ambiguous choices throughout; loyalties are conflicted, the goal-posts keep shifting, the enemies are ruthless and the allies questionable.
The series appears to end on Disc 6 at episode #22. Make sure you watch Disc 7; a surprising and unexpected post-script to a riveting and brilliantly produced series.
A fabulous first and second series followed by a pretty good third series. What has now followed in series four is truly abysmal. A ludicrous plot attended by poor acting has seen me give up half way through disc 4, return disc 5 unwatched and cancel the last two discs.
A prime example of the studio bosses milking every last penny from a devoted audience.
when i first got this i thought it might follow the same pattern, break out of prison, run away, break out of prison again run away etc.
However This time they've taken it away from the whole running away from prison, i won't spoil it for you but it's definately worth watching and it's straight back into the action within the first 10 seonds!
Absolutley love it, Im addicted!

Excellent storyline continuing on from last 3 series, gutted it has all finished though!
a really good watch!
