    [Highly rated reviewer]

i woke up this morning, found that i had post. discovered pro evo was among the letters. so i tried it out, i've heard mixed reviews for this game, so i decided to rent it.

having been a pro evo fan up until i couldn't take anymore of pro evo 5. i turned to fifa 07 then played 08. i expected konami to really push the bar. but no...

basically, i feel sorry for anyone who bought this. wow, talk about a step back konami. i seriously felt like i was playing international superstar soccer on my playstation. for an xbox360 game, this lacked ALOT of visual. the graphics are horrid. &what the heck is with the pace of the game? i felt i was missing a joystick and 4 coloured buttons. it just doesn't feel like football.

there are good features in pro evo. things that fifa doesn't have, such as training & the editing capabilities. but why can't they get the rest right?

fifa 08 may have it's flaws. but man, does it win hands down over this game.

    posted back same day.

  • Good, but can't see much difference

Gotta love the PES games, but I really would struggle to spend another £40 each time a new version comes out. Could just be me but there doesn't seem to be much of a step from the previous version, apart from maybe upgraded graphics.

I have Pro Evo 6 and even though it was obv a rush job for the XBOX 360 it is excellent online. PES2008 was meant to be a step forward but it turned out to be a major step backwards. Online is horrible. and lets face it thats the main thing we are all looking for. the graphics are really last gen. Pro evo has had the monopoly for so long now and it seems like they have become majorly lazy and let fifa catch them up.

Needs to get its act together

Best footie game out there, play it on 360 for the realism of the dual shock pad...

When you load this up you are greated with the usual woeful music that pro-evolution is known for and a poor menu system. But when I play footy games i prefer to listen to music so I don't really mind, and as for the menu system well thats only a minor inconvienience. Anyway, like most people I went straight into a match against the CPU and after about a minute the commentry began to get to me (it really is appalling) so the sound went of and the radio went on. The graphics are pretty poor for a 360 game but if the gameplay is good I can forgive that...

Unfortunetly it isn't. The gameplay is dull and repetitive, slow and shallow. Since this was my first Pro Evo game I bought on the 360 expected it to sound better and look better witith gameplay that was a bit more dynamic and fluid with intelligent AI. Instead I was greeted with a game with bad music, astonishingly awful commentry, poor graphics, bad camera angles that show only a small portion of the pitch and gameplay that belongs on the PS2.

I used to be bemused that people thought that Fifa was the best football game you could get, but now pro evolution looks and feels dated. Obviously Fifa has had much more money spent on it and it is now beginning to show... so come on Konami spend some money in developing this game, because this is worse than watching a pub team.
