Jackie Chan stars as Dragon Ma, an honest marine cadet in late-19th-century colonial Hong Kong, who must do battle with the smugglers and pirates terrorising the South China Sea in order to preserve his company's honor. Revered by Chan devotees as one of his finest films, PROJECT A seamlessly combines exhilarating action sequences with classic slapstick comedy. Chan's energy, timing, and grace are truly infectious, as demonstrated by the hilarious opening bicycle chase and his now-legendary homage to Harold Lloyd's SAFETY LAST, in which he plummets from the face of a clock tower with only a series of window awnings to break his fall. Also starring Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, this is a must-see for fans of the genre.

For those who think kung fu is kung-phooey, a chance to be converted by one of the masters. With an overworked soundtrack — thwack! kapow! crunch! — and fight choreography ballet companies would die for, Jackie Chan is a turn-of-the-century coastguard battling pirates. Credibility walks the buccaneers' plank, but the humour-leavened action takes some beating and dishes out plenty, as well.
Famous for the scene in which the acrobatic Chan, cornered by pirates, is left hanging by a clock's minute hand, this... read more on Time Out
Fabulous, entertaning early Jackie Chan vehicle. Crammed full of what newer audiences have now come to expect and love from Mr Chan, this is hot stuff. Barking mad as a hat in places but always hugely endearing and enjoyable. A tale of top notch derring-do on the high seas as our Jackie pits his wits and fists against fearsome pirates harrasing the coasts of Hong Kong. Jackie shows just how its done from start to finish, the fight with the main villain at the finale has to be seen to be believed! Chan is the man!
When you have Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan as well as Yuen Biao together in a movie you really can't go wrong. Ok I admit their earlier outings were crap - storywise, but this one was directed by Jackie and delivers all the way through. Martial arts are well choreographed and balanced throughout the film which is story driven and also funny. This film is well known for Jackie's stunt which went seriously wrong, but if you jump off a clock tower without an airbag what do you expect? Duh?!?
