Mad as a Hat!
By David Stone-Haigh from Salford, Lancs , 24 Sep 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Fabulous, entertaning early Jackie Chan vehicle. Crammed full of what newer audiences have now come to expect and love from Mr Chan, this is hot stuff. Barking mad as a hat in places but always hugely endearing and enjoyable. A tale of top notch derring-do on the high seas as our Jackie pits his wits and fists against fearsome pirates harrasing the coasts of Hong Kong. Jackie shows just how its done from start to finish, the fight with the main villain at the finale has to be seen to be believed! Chan is the man!- Was this review helpful to you?

(19)Ya Gotta Love Him
By OrangeSofaMo (7 reviews) from London , 20 Aug 2009The film is subtitled, which can be irritating and it starts slow. But this is Jackie Chan at his best. He really makes me laugh. Out loud, not a quiet snigger in my head. The fight sequences are amazing, but to weave humour into them as well is top. You might expect a martial arts expert of his calibre to be a bit into himself but he never takes himself too seriously and makes sure he entertains you. You can't beat this for entertainment. Not with anything legal anyway.- Was this review helpful to you?

Ready for this
By a customer from Lisburn. N. I. , 19 Apr 2009Even the most hardened Jackie Chan fans would be shocked to see this film. It is a total farce. One of the worst films I'v ever seen and I am one of his best fans.- Was this review helpful to you?

If you havent seen this yet, then watch it...tonight!- Was this review helpful to you?

Project A ++
By Alison from Gloucester , 20 Jan 2008Apart from the cheesy dubbed English over the top of the Japanese, the martial arts in these early Jackie Chan films are incredibly choreographed and JC is his usual kickass self - right on form!!- Was this review helpful to you?
