Fearsomely complex science fiction, cheaply made but on the whole intriguingly imagined.
I saw this film when it first came out, and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. About an air force pilot who is demoted and made to help look after monkeys after being caught flying a military plane with a girl and a bottle of champagne onboard. Monkeys are trained at the base to see if they can fly in the event of a nuclear fallout. But, after discovering that one of the monkeys (virgil)can do sign language, tracks down his original trainer only to find that he was sent to the wrong place by mistake; so together they set out to help free the skilled monkey and his friends from being exposed to radiation. Very sweet, family tear-jerker of a film, good for a sunday afternoon.
