Breathtaking
By a customer from Warwickshire , 20 Sep 2003[Highly rated reviewer]
Propulsive in-your-face salute to film noir with a Nineties slant with savvy filmmaking from auteur Tarantino interweaving three tales of crime, sex, greed and O. Henry sensibility mixed with Murphy's Law.
What can one say that hasn't been said about 'Pulp Fiction': the dialogue is fresh, the narrative is brilliant, the acting is superlative, etc. All these praises are merely opinions, but one has to be completely ignorant to deny the influential aspects of 'Pulp Fiction.' A film that was the catalyst for the independent film generation. It is the film that defied Hollywood's preconceived notion--that all films needed to be moulded from an archetype. 'Pulp Fiction' reinvigorated a genre inept, and bereft of creativity. Simply put, 'Pulp Fiction' is the best film of the 90's; much like 'Citizen Kane' is regarded as the best film of all time. Both films cinematic aspects can be argued, but one would be hard pressed to deny the level of their influence.- Was this review helpful to you?

(263)Why all the fuss?
By Unkieali (2 reviews) from Glasgow , 07 Feb 2011Pulp Fiction has long been a film which i have wanted to see but never quite got round to. Everything i heard about it led me to believe this film was a classic. However as i sat and watched the credits roll, i was desperately disappointed.
Now don't get me wrong, this is not a bad film, infact i did enjoy it. But i simply cannot understand why everyone feels the need to praise it, or even what they are praising. Too much of the film was needless dialogue, conversations about nothing. Yes there were witty remarks that made you laugh but i feel that it took away from the story, infact speaking of which, what story?
Yes the the multiple plots did overlap and come together, but the problem is there wasn't an awful lot of depth in any of the plots to make me care that the overlapped. There wasn't a twist that tied the film together and left you feeling satisfied, the conclusion just happened and that was that.
However i simply must mention the performance of Samuel L. Jackson that is nothing short of perfect.
My final thoughts on Pulp Fiction are that it is a movie i enjoyed however when i look at some of the truly great movies, even Tarantinos Reservoir Dogs, it just doesn't compare. This could have been a fantastic film if there was a stronger story, it's not secret that Tarantino is superb at writing dialogue, and he often is great with a plot too, but Pulp Fiction for me falls short.- Was this review helpful to you?

Does he look like a Fiction?
By brianw4815 (122 reviews) from United Kingdom , 03 Feb 2011Pulp Fiction...what can I say? Another classic. Filled with memorable quotes and scenes that you won't forget. Tarantino proves how effective music can be in film-making. The opening scene/song combination is just fantastic and catapults you straight into the action! There are literally dozens of great moments in this film. You won't be bored for a minute! Well, maybe just one.- Was this review helpful to you?

Nothing Comes Close
By a customer from Glasgow , 03 Feb 2011Nothing comes close to this. The greatest movie of all time. Brutal, funny, surreal, funky, the list goes on. The characters larger than life, the stories twist and turn. Five stars.- Was this review helpful to you?
