This is a great insight into the persona of bodybuilders - or at least the ones who started it all seriously. Highlights are big Ferrigno's overbearing father - quite why Lou didnt skelp his old man silly is beyond me. The film makers manage to get to the heart of the phenomenon as opposed to just pointing a camera at the competition itself . Now I dont care two hoots about bodybuilding and yet this was a very good documentary in my eyes and I would recommend it to anyone

Great to see the guys tell us what they know about bodybuilding. As well as giving the viewers motivation, it's also very informative. I recommended watching the video extras as well. Great advice about what is needed to maximise results for bodybuilding / weight training.

Now that's what a gym is all about, I've been weight training for 20 years now, and it's so sad to see fairy modern day gyms which are full to the brim with running machines and such. It's a relief to watch this documentary. Reminds me what real gyms are supposed to be like...I watched this doc many years ago, a nice trip down memory lane...

... was how Clive James memorably described young Arnie. Nearly 35 years later and with The Governator already retired from his 3rd career (body-builder, actor, politician) this is an historical document. I never bothered to watch it at the time but now I find it fascinating. Never thought I'd feel nauseastalgic for the 70s.

  • Good show if you have a interest in 'Arny' or Body Building

I thought this film gave a great insight into the world of male body building even if it was done 34 years ago. I think that is interesting in itself. It was great to see 'Arny' in his physical prime, but his personality was very interesting also - he jokes around constantly throughout the film and says some great stuff! I loved the stuff of him with the Ferrigno's.
