This was Tom Hanks' last film before hitting the A list with Big. He is slightly miscast as a part time stand up comedian who ditches his medical career for a life in front of the mike. His love interest, bored housewife and comic wannabe Sally Field, shines and is ably supported by John Goodman as her husband struggling to deal with his wife's newfound talent. Bit of a curiousity, definitely worth a look.
Not hearing a lot about this film, i was interested in watching it due to the great cast (the brilliant tom hanks, sally field and john goodman) and also the storyline. The film isnt particularly funny but i dont think it needed to be as it offers an interesting look at two protagonists struggles in the daring world of stand up comedy in America.more drama than comedy, this isnt a particularly stand out film but still entertaining all the same.
