The first of seven horror films, all seen almost exclusively on the small screen, about the puppets given life by their creator, Toulon. A group of highly unlikely psychic researchers (including Paul Le Mat American Graffiti, Melvin and Howard) are terrorised in a hotel by the murderous marionettes. Director David Schmoeller, veteran of much low-grade horror, does little with the formulaic script, which is slow to get going, but finally delivers the gory goods. The puppets are cleverly animated by special effects expert David Allen, who directed the next (and one of the best) in the series.

A twist on the Frankenstein story, with some clever special effects adding a little interest to the usual slasher narrative.

Whoops
Did i really get this film out??? my god what a mistake. duller than a dull mans dull thing on dull day. Another jokey horror that isnt scary. Puppets look ok but the acting is soooooo bad u just cant ignore it. Spent whole film thinking i could do better then turned it off before end. DONT GET THIS1

Typical 80s horror
Typical low budget late 80s/ early 90s horror. Poor acting, script etc. The only good thing about it was the puppets themselves who were actually quite scarily good. Better sticking to the last segment of the Amicus film Asylum or the dummy bit from Dead of Night for good puppets in horror films.
