1965, young mod hates his job, plans big weekend away in Brighton with friends, get friendly with girl he fancies, carnage, weekend over, back to normal.

Franc Roddam’s film version of The Who’s rock opera which still proves quite shocking all these years on.

Phil Daniels has never really been better as the angst filled Jimmy and a decent cast of also younger Ray Winstone, Phil Davis, Leslie Ash, Mark Wingett and Sting around him.

The settings are mainly suburban London for most of it but the use of Brighton for the Mods v Rockers is very well done and backed up by some outstanding music with my favourite bit being My Generation interrupting the party.

Quite surprised how much the “c” word was used too so I must have seen TV versions in the past.
