    Dustin Hoffman has roped in veteran actors Michael Gambon and Dame Maggie Smith to star in his directorial debut. The Rain Man actor will step behind the camera to direct Quartet, a comedy set in a home for retired opera singers, which will also include Billy Connolly, Pauline Collins and Tom Courtenay in the cast.     Dustin Hoffman was reduced to tears on the set of his directorial debut Quartet when he heard his leading actors singing opera.     Veteran actor Dustin Hoffman is planning to step behind the camera to officially direct his first movie at the age of 72. The Oscar-winner is reportedly in talks to take charge of new film Quartet, based on a 1999 play of the same name, about a retirement home for opera singers in England.
