What Stallone's last movie 'The Expendables' failed to deliver on, this movie certainly makes up for it in spades! This is a thinking man and woman's action spy movie about retired spies turned loose. The script is cleverly written and there are plenty of witty one liners to keep the balance of humour and action in this surprisingly entertainingly good movie.Willis looks sexier than ever and unlike in his previous movie, he has a certain understated youthful glow to him, that makes it clear that he is nowhere near past his sell buy date as far as making movies are concerned! The rest of the cast are brilliant actors supported by a good script and lots of stellar actions scenes, making this a must see movie for action and non action lovers alike!

RED stands for retired and extremely dangerous. Bruce Willis is a retired CIA 'analyst' who is bored and trying to chat-up the woman who deals with his pension cheques when suddenly someone is trying to kill him. Then the relentless action begins and never stops. Willis is great as the hunted 'granddad' with attitude and enough weaponry to restart the cold war. Morgan Freeman plays a great little cameo as one of his old CIA friends, Helen Mirren is also good along with Brian Cox, but the stand out performance is John Malkovitch's character. He is just brilliant, in some of the silliest but best fun moments of the film. He plays the madman perfectly. The scene at the airport when they are cornered by the CIA hit team is brilliant - especially his shoot out with a rocket propelled grenade. Karl Urban provides the eye candy too I can't understand why this didn't make a bigger impact at the cinema.

This is the second time I've watched this film - and I found it even more entertaining the second time! RED is a spoof on the typical blood and gore action movie with a cast to die for! How could you go wrong with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Ernest Borgnine and a script that is slow to get started while the scene is set between Willis and Mary-Louis Parker, but once moving sets a cracking pace and is laced with some really great humour. A really good couple of hours entertainment!
