Ajay Devgan and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai play the star-crossed lovers who meet after six years apart in this dull drama from director Rituparno Ghosh. The couple trudge through their pasts, indulging in unnecessary and meaningless chatter that fails to light up the gloomy room of the dilapidated house in which the film is primarily set. There's zero chemistry between the two leads, which isn't helped by some genuinely cringe-worthy moments of dialogue and action in Ghosh's script. Rai resorts to histrionics all too frequently, while Devgan can never have been in a more terrifying movie — terrifyingly bad, that is.
How this film obtained any favourable reviews baffles me. A relentless gloomy depressing interaction between two miserable pathetic characters with victim labels stamped on their foreheads. The Directors sole success of a kind was to submerge two notable leading actors in dark grey; not even a hint of the flash and sparkle of which they are capable. Half way through I changed to fast forward, but that was no real help either. I concluded by playing a cheerful DVD to relieve my unhappy state. Unless you wish to experience depression do not go near this one.
