This is obviously striving to be the 'All the Presidents Men' of the 00's and while it doesnt match up to that (the event itself isnt as dramatic so the film aint gonna be) it's a pretty decent, if somewhat low key, account of the election, it has a firm Democrats = Good, Republicans = BAD philosophy.
The acting is mainly solid, if unspectacular, throughout - although Laura Dern runs VERY close to spoiling things with a spectacularly over the top performance as Katherine Harris and Tom Wilkinson, as James Baker, sports a non to convincing accent and an even less convincing hair style (ditto John Hurt as Warren Christopher).
Spacey is his usual self and gets good support from the likes of Bob Balaban, Ed Begley Jr and Dennis Leary.
The whole enterprise has a bit of a 'made for TV' feel about it and maybe gets a little stretched towards the end but still an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.

They should probably call it “Dub-ya” in this country. After all, W. doesn’t exactly spell George Bush to most of us. Think of Bush, we think of hanging chads in Florida and reading to nursery kids as the Twin Towers came down. Neither of these images show up in Oliver Stone’s film. Apparently he originally planned to make a movie about the Florida 2000 debacle, but backed away from it when he got wind of a rival movie project (Recount, with Kevin Spacey and Laura Dern).
