Hopkins is unmissable as ever
By a customer from Haslemere , 16 Dec 2003[Highly rated reviewer]
Yes, it's very different from Silence of the Lambs - the peerless psycho drama about a serial killer.
But actually this film has every bit as creepy a villain as Silence (Ralph Fiennes), and the who-dunnit-ness is fascinating.
Hopkins as ever is brilliant and if you like him, or you thrillers, or you like Silence of the Lambs, you won't be disappointed.- Was this review helpful to you?

(85)Great film about the capture of Dr Hannibal Lecter
By twosoddingcats (209 reviews) from Kingston-upon-Thames , 07 May 2013This film starts with the FBI agent (Ed Norton) capturing Dr Hannibal Lecter whilst almost dying in the process as Hannibal stabs him several times. FBI agent Harvey Keitel then needs his help again in capturing the Tooth fairy killer but Ed Norton realises he will need Hannibals serial killer mind to help capture this new serial killer. Great tense moments and great to see the saga from the beginning. The best moments are the mind games between Hannibal and Ed Norton.- Was this review helpful to you?

A pointless sequel
By gianino (616 reviews) from London , 11 Nov 2012But still not too bad. I didn't particularly like Edward Norton (usually a very good actor) in this and I thought Ralph Fiennes was unconvincing. The rest was a bit pointless; however, it's still interesting to watch and Anthony Hopkins plays a very fine part as usual. It's just a bad copy of manhunter which was awesome- Was this review helpful to you?

Red, bloody and ripping
By Platospupil (195 reviews) , 31 Aug 2012Well, I really enjoyed this. I am catching up with HL. Many years ago I watched SotL and found it magnificently disturbing. Then I just let the whole thing go. Now, many years later I am watching the films in HL chronology. Hannibal Rising was so so. Many sillynesses of evil look seemed to dog the film. This, as the second in the chronology of the four, I found much more satisfying. Splendid stuff, the menace, the twist, and the controlled, distorted faces of rage and madness.. Hopkins and Feines on form, wonderfully supported by Hoffman but Ed Norton steals it all. How does he do it? Weak voice and chin but constantly steals the macho stakes (not just here - Fight Club, American History X, etc. ..) he is the man.- Was this review helpful to you?

brilliant film better than the original
By cheesekake (1280 reviews) from uk , 17 Mar 2012I saw the original and got very bored easily with it, cause it just didn't give hannible lector that umph factor, so was interested to see this film, and am so glad I did.
Hopkins was just made for the Lecter role, and this film is just brilliant, scary and sick, and just gripping from the get go.- Was this review helpful to you?
