Hopkins is unmissable as everBy a customer from Haslemere , 16 Dec 2003
[Highly rated reviewer]Yes, it's very different from Silence of the Lambs - the peerless psycho drama about a serial killer.
But actually this film has every bit as creepy a villain as Silence (Ralph Fiennes), and the who-dunnit-ness is fascinating.
Hopkins as ever is brilliant and if you like him, or you thrillers, or you like Silence of the Lambs, you won't be disappointed.

Red Dragon ReviewBy a customer from Ashton-under-Lyne , 04 Sep 2008Red Dragon is one of the best films in the Hannibal quadrilogy and a must for any fan of 'Hannibal The Cannibal'. A similar storyline to that of The Silence of the Lambs, keeps within the films strengths, but still provides enough difference to keep the viewer constantly entertained and glued to the screen. Another flawless performance from Sir Anthony Hopkins has made this film a gory, psychotic, enigma that should be watched from beginning to end, again and again. Its a shame I only rented it, but i'm glad someone else will get to enjoy it...

Ok but sub-ManhunterBy a customer from Sheffield , 03 Jul 2008A star cast remake of Manhunter. While the actors were good (although Hopkins is no Brian Cox!), this really didn't capture the great atmosphere and cinemtography of Manhunter. Not a bad film by any means but just not as good as the original.
Tony and Ed on formBy Spaced (3 reviews) from Ammanford , 02 Apr 2008This film was excellent with Anthony Hopkins back to the excellence that he produced in his oscar-winning performance in Silence of the Lambs. The supporting cast of Edward Norton (excellent in American History X) and Ralph Fiennes (An English Patient, Schindler's List) along with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Harvey Keitel excelled. If you are a fan of the Hannibal series I would highly recommend this film. Anthony Hopkins again proved that he is one of the all time greats of his generation, and definitely the best ever British actor.
Good Hannibal Lecter FilmBy a customer from Wolverhampton , 25 Jan 2008
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideVery Good Film!! Anthony Hopkins Is Brilliant As Hannibal Lecter As Usual!! Edward Norton And Ralph Fiennes Were Brilliant Also!! This Story Is Very Similar To Silence Of The Lambs Because An FBI Agent Is Questioning And Talking To Hannibal Lecter For Information About A Serial Killer!! Buffalo Bill In Silence Of The Lambs And Tooth Fairy In This Film!! Also It Is A Male FBI Agent Instead Of A Female FBI Agent!! Weird That Silence Of The Lambs Is The Only Hannibal Lecter Film That Have Won Lots Of Oscars But Manhunter, Hannibal, Red Dragon And Hannibal Rising Haven't!!
So it begins...By JohnnyRoss (373 reviews) from Leeds , 13 Jan 2008The famous Dr Hannibal Lector serious begins here. And it's quite a spectacular show. I think some of the other films in the series, like The Silence of the Lambs, for instance, were more superior. But this first part is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Acting is first-rate from the entire cast; the suspense is gripping and the plot is engaging. It's a mix of beauty and madness all at the same time, and you'll either like it or think it's not too bad. Either way, it fits the bill. Bon appetite!
