Oh dear...

This docu comes across as being made by someone who got lucky and acquired the right to use some fairly decent live footage of this awesome band. However, that's where the luck ends and probably where the entire budget went.
The accompanying graphics are cheap and dated and the soundtrack comes courtesy of a rather average tribute band.
The absence of any decent band member interviews is filled by chatter from a handful of alleged British 'music journalists'. Their knowledge of the bands history is nothing that you wouldn't read in a biography. One particular guy irritated me throughout with his inability to properly prounouce the names 'Kiedis' and 'Frusciante', even though he claims to have met the band?! He also gives a totally inaccurate account of the period where Frusciante was absent from the band, which bears little resemblance to anything John has been quoted as saying about that period of his life.
There is however the live footage, which is almost a saving grace, taken from both of the band's Woodstock appearances. This is definitely a plus if you're a Navarro fan, because there is very little non-bootlegged footage of this line-up onstage.
But if RHCP live is what you want, then there are better titles. This one compares to Last Gang In Town, which I bought when it was released and quickly returned for a refund.- Was this review helpful to you?
