Only 65%?Some of your reviewers are planks..

A tour-de-force.The best British film since Trainspotting-if you enjoy meat for the mind- if you want enjoyable no-brainer fare, watch Hot Fuzz. Grief, redemption and learning to move on are central themes in this slow- building, intriguing thriller set in an outwardly bleak Glasgow but with a Renoir-like humanity ultimately shown by brilliant debut director Andrea Arnold. Many times you think a character might be unsympathetic or evil only to be shown otherwise. Would make a good double-bill with Haneke's Hidden, what with the CCTV's ambiguous gaze at its heart. She doesn't say much as Jackie,(the central character),so Kate Dickie' s poignant, tortured, sad face carrys the spare plot along.A remarkable performance.

    Very poor

I watched about 30 mins of this badly filmed, badly acted rubbish. It was very slow and boring. If this is the best we can do, then we should stop making films. I try and support british films by renting them, but if all the support grants are going to crap like this, no wonder they have to be grant supported.

Even more worrying is the rating of 59%, when more people hated it than liked it?...whats wrong with the rating system
