Silent Bob gets violentBy manonfireuk (401 reviews) from Liverpool , 06 Oct 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]Superb and very creepy performances, especially from Michael Parks and Melissa Leo. It's not like anything I've ever seen before, it's creepy, tense, action packed, explosive, funny, surprising, shocking . . . it really keeps you guessing as to where the film is heading. A very different film from the guy who brought us Jay and Silent Bob! :o)

Too bad to be trueBy a customer , 16 Nov 2013Absolutely terrible movie. The story is weak and uninteresting. I don't understand the other reviews, anyone serious about film shouldn't waste their time with it.
Oh, so close!By ricoh (137 reviews) from Calne , 20 Sep 2013Contrary to some reviews, I thought the first half hour was superb, and really set the scene for an excellent creepy film, and quite disturbing. Then it all really fell apart. There was some interesting concepts, but overall at the end I felt disappointed in what could have been a very good film.
Funny cult-crazies, 5 out of 10By BRAJ (19 reviews) , 12 Sep 2013Well....bit of an odd one, this left me with mixed feelings and thoughts. Initially a little disappointment - not that it is a bad film, in parts was quite entertaining. However, it does lack a certain something; a well rounded plot, character arc, depth perhaps. It isn't meant to be a serious look at the religious fundamentalist gun-toting red-necks. It was just a passably entertaining piece of reality-based fiction. It certainly is not a commentary on the inbred cult crazies, it isn't that serious. The 'government' handling of the situation was hilarious, the best part of the film, genuinely funny! In summary: fairly passable entertainment, but don't take it seriously. It aint all that!
Well worth a lookBy Ann-Marie (1 review) , 09 Sep 2013Really liked this film, it's a change of direction for Kevin Smith & not bad for his first horror film. The acting was pretty impressive for the genre, especially from the always great John Goodman and Melissa Leo. The intelligent, witty dialogue is typically Kevin Smith and the script has a couple of great moments, especially from Goodman. The religious sect themselves were suitably scary as well and appear to be based on the real-life 'disciples' of the Westboro Baptist Church whose extreme religious views and teachings have now become infamous. Very clever and courageous of Smith to tackle such a subject & to make it into a horror movie. This film isn't going to win any Oscars, but it's well worth a look if you can stick with it through the first half hour or so (which some people might find a bit wordy.) Definitely recommend for those looking for a horror with a bit of substance instead of the usual gore-fest.
Can't Resist A Joke...By a customer , 31 Aug 2013Well, that was interesting. Kind of agree and disagree with some of the previous reviews. Certainly something you wouldn't expect of Kevin Smith, not in this genre anyway, and yes, it was slightly underdeveloped, character-wise. Yet if they had been better fleshed-out, then Smith ran the risk of sinking into caricature. I enjoyed it..though I certainly wouldn't have classed it as 'horror' film in the accepted sense and, being a Silent Bob joint, there was the expected light relief every so often!
