Redwoods = Deadwood!
By Vespertine (3 reviews) from Cardiff , 20 Jan 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
Absolutely shockingly dreadful - please do not waste a title choice on this movie. The acting is appalling and the plot is just as bad. I've given it one star as the actor who plays Chase was cute!- Was this review helpful to you?

(35)Four movies in one!
By callmeMrTibbs (13 reviews) from Scotland , 12 Aug 2012Take BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTRY and add a dash of AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER (the 'let's meet here, in this spot, five years from now' bit). Slowly reduce to the ending of LOVE STORY and garnish with the last scene of SOMEWHERE IN TIME.
What you have is VERY LITTLE ADO ABOUT NOTHING but they chose to call it REDWOODS.- Was this review helpful to you?

A must see, moving film
By BUCK_1989 (1 review) , 16 Jul 2012A truely moving piece of film, although not to everybodies taste as I have seen from a few of the reviews.
A must see for someone who is able to see and feel the story.
Very moving and emotional.
Ending was done well, plot was a little patchy at time.
But I loved every second as the story unfolded- Was this review helpful to you?

Where to live a life of love? Sonoma County; Russian River; Armstrong Redwoods State Park; Guerneville, California.
By a customer , 20 Jun 2012Never before have I watched a feature, then all the DVD extras, and then watched the entire film again all on the same night, all at one sitting. Even now I cannot work out whether I watched a film or lived a life. It is not often that I am reluctant to send a film back.
The great liberation of watching films at home is giving free reign to ones feelings and emotions. I cried. I sobbed. I really wept. Tears of joy, sorrow, bitter-sweet regret; tears that were as unexpected as they were cathartic and healing. Smiles and laughter too for there are many humorous interplays and many of the characters reveal deftly drawn but gently comic aspects in this acutely observed presentation of family and small-town life.
I hadnt read any of the reviews before watching this film and Im so glad that I came to this film without any particular expectations or prejudices.
The scenery, the natural setting and environment are as much a character, whether used as focus or as background, as the cast themselves. The mountains, the forests, the soaring redwoods, the meadows, the river I want to go to this place, I want to see those redwood trees for myself. The incredible cinematography alone will make your heart soar and your spirit sing. Am I turning into a hopeless romantic? I hope so.
Jack Curtis Dubowskys score is a miniature delight and has inspired me to seek out his other works just as I am keen to discover other films by the writer / director David Lewis
This film is lyrical, wistful and gently knowing. There is a certain naïve quality which is irresistible. Whatever weaknesses the film may have, whatever criticisms others may make of it, give it a chance allow this world to work its wonder on you. This film is a real gem and I shall be interested to gauge how much my emotional response has changed the next time I decide to watch it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Could have been good but sadly wasn't
By JonathanWelfordcom (34 reviews) from Manchester , 28 Apr 2012Gay couple with adopted autistic child live in a small town with close family nearby and friends. Gay Couple are having relationship issues, one partner goes away for a week with child to spend some time with his parents. A writer comes into town to finish his book, the remaining part of the gay couple is attracted to this creative and breath of fresh air guy. They commence a friendship which evolves into a fledgling romance, family get involved and things come to a head when the other partner comes back. - Sounds good, interesting and quite a drama filled film. Unfortunately it doesn't deliver. Lingering shots over (admittedly magnificent forest and mountain ranges) vistas and running rivers along with hammy acting from some of the cast and wanting to shout at the lead actor to wake up, he has a perpetually blank expression throughout the film.
Could have been good but sadly wasn't.- Was this review helpful to you?
