LOVEFiLM Review Remember Me

  • 3 stars out of 5

    By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM

Robert Pattinson hangs up his vampire fangs for this more serious, family drama.

In all honesty I went to see this film as I have a thing for Robert Pattinson. You'd be hard pushed to find a woman who breathes that doesn't. But this film quickly became so much more than that.

At it's heart, this film is about how something good can come out of something so bad..which is a theme everyone can relate to and hopes for. Pattinson is Tyler, a tortured young man who misses his brother, hates his father and doesn't know where to channel all his anger. He then meets Ali - a young girl who also has a troubled past, who lost her mother - it's their losses that make their blossoming relationship so real and compelling - so much that you are routing for them.

Unfortunately as events unroll, and they show their flaws you want them to work it out even more, until the final plot pieces come together in their tragic and poignant way.

Pattinson is a revelation in this. Gone is the blooding vampire and his place a smart performance. He portrays his anger in a frustratingly subtle way - he is very good. He shows signs of being a really good actor - lets hope he keeps on that path. De Ravin is a breath of fresh air. So different to all the other leading ladies around at the moment - she's real. Their chemistry is great and they have great support.

All in all a nice, thought provoking film. Genuine emotion at the heart of it. Definitely worth a look.

Remember me? Still trying very hard to forget I'm afraid. Too boring for words the only reason to see this is if you like Robert Pattison I found him very wooden in this. It was most disappointing avoid at all costs unless you want something to put you to sleep.

It was a bit slow starting, but turned into a interesting storyline with a unexpected ending. Definitely worth watching as the emotions and challenges to over come are heart-breaking whike heart-warming.
