finally a half decent seagal film in years

i was giving the big mans films a miss from now on until i read a review awhile ago about this film and thought why not for old times sake and i was surprised that the dubbing had gone so has his fight double and the dreaded single chops to his enemies shoulders for the first time in years seagal actually looked like he wanted to be in this film a half decent script and a film that looked like it wasn't made on a shoestring budget don't get me wrong its not back to his out for justice, marked for death best but if you are a fan like me i would put it on your rental list because its worth a watch

Boyz in the Hood Swearathon !

Note to Segal's current director of choice Don E. Faunterloy. Having a load of rent-a-homie bad guys running around pulling triggers and using the word 'mother*$#!' like it's a cool fashion accessory does not a good movie make ! You could just about stomach this mediocre actioner if you were only having to put up with SS plugging baddies, with a weapon that quite obviously NEVER runs out of ammo. Unfortunately, what you do get is a load of 'gansta' types trying to out swear and street talk each other at every corner. Juxtaposed against which we have the leading man, all twenty stone of him, waltzing around like he's bullet proof. If there is one thing i'll have to lay at Segal's door of late, it's complete lack of continuity in any of his films. Whilst i can appreciate that a small budget means compromise, surely something as basic as this should be a given. In this latest crime against celluloid, in one scene Segal is supposedly badly wounded, two minutes later not a hint of said injury ! All the bad guys in his films couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag and couldn't hit a barn door with a shotgun from ten paces. Whilst again i don't expect hyper realism from Segal, are we really supposed to accept that a murderous gang member would miss him with an automatic rifle from point blank range ! In all, compared to his recent efforts, this just scrapes above 'Into the Sun' or 'Flight of Fury'. In saying that, i guess that's not really much of a recommendation is it !

    he's back!

Being a fan of seagals early films i have tuned out over the years coz of his appalling DTV outpout, culmiinating in a series of low budget actioners set or filmed in eastern europe. Seagal is though now back home in the u.s and is actually churning out some half decent action thrillers..It is what it is,so im not gonna say that this is one of the best films ever or is very original..you know the drill by now with seagal. This is a revenge film that sees segal tracking down his sons killer in the ghetto of los angeles. Theres lenty of unintentially hilarious scenes but if your a fan this is all part of the seagal expeirience!! Thankfully also the ikido moves have been reinstated,so this plays very much like nico, hard to kill etc. The pace is pretty good and the fights plentiful. Easily one of seagals best films in a long time. Rent this now!!

    Formulaic but fun

Yet another version of the same revenge story that Seagal uses in many of his films, but the acting and action sequences are better than in many of his recent efforts. Lightweight but fun, don't expect depth or rational behaviour!

    I was surprised

I was surprised to see Seagal doing high kicks in a head!

Most of Seagal's films in my opnion were rubbish, so watching it i didnt expect much, but this one is really unusual and very good.

finally a seagal film reminiscent of the older days

its gud to see seagal finally get a decent film out in comparison to some of the tripe hes released in the last few yrs...

watch him fight through rival gangs to find out who conspired to murder his policeman son!! and discover corruption within the law along the way...

only criticism is the over use of the word ''mother f##ker'' as its really not needed but other than that i enjoyed it...

    good

not a bad film again they are all getting the same and the story line are predictable apart from that worh a watch for you steven segal fans out there but will be disappointed if you think they are going to be just as good as his earlier films!
