A verité riff on the Police Academy series is the idea behind cult US sitcom Reno 911!, which, here, is... read more on Time Out
This is a sort of 'Police Academy' for the 2000's and is short at just about 1hr 25 mins but packed with gags, so if you like mad spoof humour you are sure to like this one. Even though some might think it a tad samey, personally, I found this absolutely hilarious, and having not seen the series this was derived from I will have put that on my rental queue too, if it is as good as the film I must give it a go. Definately recommended giggle flick !
First of I have to point out that i'm not really into these big budget comedies that come out that are just crude and daft (you know, the recent national lampoon ones) but there is something I just love about Reno 911! I was already hooked on the tv show which i've only ever managed to see late at night on sky, but when I heard they were doing a movie I was worried. I loved the show but was ready for the dissapointment of a great 22 minute long show making a rubbish 84 minute film.
I've never been so glad to be so wrong. I waited till it was out to rent, I was suprised it had been on in the cinemas over here usually something like this would go straight to dvd when it came this side of the pond. As soon as i'd watched my rented dvd I ordered a copy to buy. The film is brilliant, hilarious, light-hearted film that's great to watch if you need cheering up. Making it a great transfer from tv to film. Don't worry if you haven't seen the show, the film won't leave you confused but it will possibly make you want to track down the tv show to watch.
The biggest load of rubbish ive ever viewed!!!

Imagine a a film with the objective hilarity of The Office, and the situation comedy of the Police Academy films. Have the writers of Night at the Museum write and produce it. Set it in Reno, Nevada - a state where prostitution's legal and crystal meth's more popular than Pepsi. Take a group of dysfunctional officers and send them to Miami. The rest is true-to-life comedy gold.
I'd never heard of the popular TV show this film is based on, even though I have Sky, and so came to it blind. I'm glad I did - so gla I've since bought all four seasons on DVD and had the pleasure of them too. (Looking back now, I wished that they'd put as much of Clemmy - the force nympho - in the film as they do in the show.)
The film, like the show, is almost completely improvised - like Mike Leigh, but with humour (and nudity!), and this has helps to give it is spontaneity and fidelity to truth - something the Dullards never notice until it's taken a chunk out their backsides. Rent it if you like comedy, rent if you just want something to pad out your list. But do rent it. You don't know what you're missing.

Ok, a really funny film, sure the filming wasnt too quality and the 'home video' style at the start was a bit shabby but hey, its really funny, well thought out and some good acting.
the storyline was a bit cheesy and unrealistic but i guess thats another point to laugh at.
i'd recommend this film to anyone who just enjoys a laugh and dosnt really care too much for quality of filming and acting.
this got one star only because i could not get away with anything less. you've guessed it . terrible.
A clever way to get a feature length film out of the series. The characters are their own great selves and the comedy never stops. I wanted the film to go on and on ...
It's been a long time since seeing a funny national lampoons style ridiculous comedy - sadly the statement still holds true after yesterday when I watched this twaddle.
I find it hard to believe that anyone can enjoy this. Naturally there was little to no storyline - but then there never is with the best of these comedies, but what seemed oddly lacking in this comedy was humour. Apart from one line within the last 5 minutes (and I wont spoil it!) I don't think that I broke into a smile.
I wouldn't dignify this with a connection with the pink panther, but basically it's a non-funny naked gun style cop comedy without the humour! Plenty of opportunity - it just wasn't taken!
Dont wast your money one of the worst films ever i have watched.trash
This was the worst film I have seen in ages. Poor acting and poor directing, how did this film ever make it to the cinema!!!!!!!
