Move over West Wing, this deserves 6 stars!

Finally an American series to challenge West Wing for my attention. This series is superb. It centres around a New York firehouse post-9/11. The main character, Tommy, an alcoholic fireman, is a divorced father living opposite his ex-wife and family who talks to his cousin, who happens to be a dead fireman - a 9/11 victim, on a regular basis. Sounds weird doesn't it? Well it is a bit but it is completely watchable; in fact when I received the DVD I watched the first 4 episodes in one sitting. I thoroughly recommend it. If you like Six Feet Under - you'll love this.- Was this review helpful to you?

Slightly nepotistic and rather a mechanism to idolise Denis Leary (no greater idol than himself, I feel!) but if you like him, you'll like this! x- Was this review helpful to you?

Rescue Me Series One
By speedycritic (17 reviews) from Cardiff , 01 Jan 2010This series' biting and humorous script are not for the faint-hearted, but provides a welcome breath of non-PC relief from the torrent of moralistic drivel which emanates from the US. Though Leary's character's misogynistic and macho behaviour may offend those not attuned as to how this is deftly woven into a defense mechanism to the psychiological trauma of post 9/11 and a failed relationship. Mr Brooks
By Mutti (16 reviews) from Stockport , 26 Mar 2008This film moved a little too slowly for me. The main character Mr Brooks is a respectable member of the community but has a dark secret. He is a reluctant serial killer not having killed for two years, even attend AA but he is once more tempted to kill. There are other stories going on and they all connect as the film moves along, keeping you wondering as to the outcome. On the whole I enjoyed this as it differed from the usual serial killer stories.- Was this review helpful to you?
