Better than my lofty expectationsBy insanebassist (16 reviews) from Worcester , 28 Jun 2008
[Highly rated reviewer]This film is truely fantastic and it is all down to simplicity, great direction from Tarentino and an amazing script which uses such abrupt and at points crass dialogue that shows that Reservoir Dogs will not tip toe around any reservations the viewer might have, this film tells you it is great and dares you to disagree with it. For fans of Tarentino this will be a major treat especially if you have seen Pulp Fiction as the crossover characters and parrallels increase both films mastery of the cinematic art, but even for first time viewers of his work this film will force you into either loving the film or risk mental anihilation.
The films use of simplicity is fanatastic and almost unseen in major hollywood films as the films cast is only 8-9 characters deep and thats including minor roles, and if you were to include extras it wouldn't reach 30 members, this shows to the cinema world that a massive budget and a packed cast is superfluous for a good film. Tim Roth's, Michael Keiten's and Michael Madsen's acting is superb and Roth's portrail of how unneccessery over masculinity is in male acting is fantastic and is brought out through the stellar script.
10/10 a greater modern day gangster film there is not.

Slow, boring, depressingBy a customer , 21 Nov 2013If you still want to prove how grown up you are to your school mates then sure: you should watch Reservoir Dogs. Better still just tell them you've watched it and your favourite bit is when that guy shoots someone. Dull, disturbing, dreary and only one dog in the whole film. Should be called reservoir dog. Hang on, there's no reservoir either. Bah!

Shockingly Funny!By a customer , 14 Nov 2013Cannot believe that it's taken me so long to get around to watching this brilliant - slightly shocking!- film! ( I am 51!) The acting from all of the cast is excellent and it is no wonder that Tarantino has turned out to be an exceptional Director / Writer. Just 'get over' the shocking / brutal sections and appreciate the daftness & stupidity of the story-line! I'm telling lots of my chums to watch and / or watch this film again!!
Was I the only person who'd never seen this film?By msfliss (4 reviews) , 11 Oct 2013I grew up in the era when Tarantino was coming into his own. I have vague memories of seeing 'Pulp Fiction' sometime in my early adolescence, but it didn't have much of an impact on me. Neither did the 'Kill Bill' saga, and thus I've avoided many of his recent films. 'Reservoir Dogs', however, is such a 'classic' film, I had to give it a watch. It was vaguely entertaining, vaguely clever, but pretty much unremarkable. I certainly wouldn't consider it a masterpiece and the hype surrounding it seems overdone to me. Perhaps it's a film of its time and I would have had more of an appreciate of it if I'd seen it when it first came out. I could clearly see the Tarantino hallmarks, though, so fans will probably love it and those who are less keen probably won't. It does what it says on the tin!
Best Tarantino ever?By Bock (8 reviews) , 29 Aug 2013I remember watching this when it was first released on video. What a scandal it caused. I was 13. It saddens me that anyone wouldn't bow down and worship Tarantino having seen this. Ridiculously good film making. The script is possibly the best ever. The concept is brilliant. If someone does not like this, they probably like films staring Sandra Bullock or whoever the latest male knucklehead is.
Well worth watchingBy Steverevo (4 reviews) , 05 Aug 2013Minimal plot and scenes but so many twists and surprises. I'd been told to watch it so many times and wasn't disappointed.
