God Damn It!!!

This is me at my most pessimistic.
I have had this game for three days now, I have also finished it. Many say it is the easiest Resident Evil game to date, having not played them all I'm unable to agree; I have played Resident Evil 4 however which is probably the most similar to this in style.
I hate survival horror; mainly because it is fiddly and dull. Resident Evil being the only exception for quite a number of years. But I have played all the main series of Resident Evil, that being 1-4 and I have been a big fan of the franchise and Capcom ever since I first found a game that had an engaging plot, some extremely cool heroes and villains, and took me more than two days to finish I have awaited the day when they would bring out more of the same in HD and next gen gaming, I am slightly disappointed with Resident Evil 5. The change to action horror actually worked well to date and this didn't insult the franchise, in fact it's quite the opposite; this game is awesome and dare I say much better than Gears of War, which I find seriously overrated. But and to me it's big but, it's far too easy for Resident Evil.
To give you some perspective; it took me weeks and months to complete the others, this took just three days.
Maybe I'm just better than I was, but I'm thinking it's more to do with the fact that it's only got one simple puzzle, only one barely a challenging boss(even on normal) and a companion who if she isn't controlled by a human is just there to heal and annoy you. Or Maybe I'm just being picky because...
It's a phenomenal game just too short, too easy because of the lack of actual skill involved and has a stupid split-screen(seriously what were they thinking with that one, just make it half the screen; then I can see what the hell is going on.)
I'm going to go finish it on veteran and hope I unlock some decent stuff this time. Peace.- Was this review helpful to you?

Very disappointing from a previously great series
By CovMilkman (6 reviews) , 12 Sep 2011Zombies have been a big thing in gaming recently and i thought why not try out the latest Resident Evil, a game well known as being the leader in zombie shooting adventure, unfortunately, the latest instalment is a let down.
I was a big fan of the Resident Evil franchise back in the early days, a game full of adventure, intrigue and terror. A game that was simply terrifying, which made you extremely cautious over your inventory especially your ammo, with each bullet more precious than gold. The eeriness, bone chilling frightfulness of Resident Evil has vanished in this latest instalment.
The zombies are not so much the undead, but more of a drugged up society, which isn't very scary. Ammo is easily found so there is no incentive to pick your shots carefully, the game takes place in the day, not very scary at all and you have an annoying AI partner follow you around, who wastes full health packs on you as soon as you get a nip. This becomes increasingly annoying as the first aid kits have run out by the time you really need them.
But to point out the most frustrating part of this game, is the inability to move and shoot. Every time you want to shoot or attack an enemy, you have to stand still, this is by far the most infuriating and stupid decision to put into a game ever. This makes it extremely difficult to kill a full crowd of 'zombies' who are surrounding you, and for me is another step backwards in gaming.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not as good as Resi 4
By Ad-Kemp (6 reviews) from Cannock , 14 Jul 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
Good graphics apart from one vehicle section where the sky box is ridiculously low resolution. Very good sound design, everything sounds like it should and the music is fitting. Level design is very similar to Resident Evil 4
Control scheme lets it down, very slow and clunky in comparision to the previous game. The inventory screen only holds 9 items and this really becomes a problem as an egg takes up the same space as a shotgun.
The AI Partner is useless and wastes all your precious healing items and ammo
Worth a rental if you want to hear the continuation of the (pretty weak) storyline, but if you want more Resident Evil, just wait until the HD Remake of 4 comes out later this year- Was this review helpful to you?
