Better than expectedBy VIDEOMONSTER (252 reviews) from Glasgow , 28 Sep 2010
[Highly rated reviewer]I have to say my hopes weren't very high for this next instalment of the 'milla jovovich adventures'. Russell (highlander)Mulcay's RE: Extinction was a disappointment following the successful first film and the more action packed second. So this was a pleasant surprise. It is better than I expected mostly because of the 3D effects while are average, are well shot and to maximum effect. To be honest this film offers nothing really new in the zombie genre from other films such as Romero's films or even Boyle's 28 franchise. It is simply effective giving more of the same - no bad thing. Stick your brain on neutral for some passable entertainment.

Resident Evil ++By The_Mole (60 reviews) , 18 Feb 2013As Expected Milla at her best shooting, slashing, stabbing and kicking the ***$%£$ out of the baddies. Nice storyline, but loses it a little at the end sequence;but saying that I quite enjoyed it.
Classic Resident EvilBy blink284 (1 review) , 07 Feb 2013Brilliant film, over the top in places and massively cheesy, but hey it does what it says on the tin.
Reconstituted movie substitute.By a customer , 03 Feb 2013Even the low expectations I had for this film were proved far too hopeful within roughly 5 minutes of the start. A mixture of samurai swords, throwing stars and guns is never an easy selection to pull off even in films with decent scripts, plots and acting, all three of which were missing from this film. It's not often I get bored of an all out action film (I have even managed to 'through hike' Doom once!) however this one was so tedious I not only turned it off, but spent the ten minutes before that quoting the lines from the good films that this one copied well over 50% of the ideas and even large quantities of its scenes from before making them worse and randomly sticking them into the film. I even had time before turning it off to steal, subtly alter and re-use the title of this review to ensure it kept the feel of the film. The acting was terrible to the point that Micky Mouse has produced more heart felt and believeable performances. The storyline was non-existant for most of the film, unfortunately this was a vast improvement when compared to the parts where the director had obviously felt compelled to try to pretend there was some sort of a plot to stick to. The rest (special effects, stunts, fight scenes etc.) was mainly poor with vague moments of mediocrity that were not even close to often enough or good enough to wrench anyone away from the tedium that is Resident Evil - Afterlife.
crap but great crapBy a customer , 03 Feb 2013if you liked the others you'll like this. as usual milla jovavich plays alice to perfection. the 12 foot hammer axe wielding zombie was a personal favourite
The closing of a once great series.By Thenewpeterv (2 reviews) , 26 Jan 2013
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideThis will contain some spoilers. This movie... it's funny how the resident evil series has changed movie wise, the first was decent, nicely serving to fans, the second, still ok, allot of fan pleasing, the third, an out of no where what the hell, and this... just goes worse. The movie has multiple BIG flaws, from the lead character surviving a plane crash after loosing her powers, to still acting like she has her powers, the inclusion of the Los Plaga's without any explanation what so ever, including 2 lead characters and making them both useless, letting down massively in the final battle, Chris and Clair vs Wesker, would be a great fight, but nope, they're not the lead, they're just useless cannon fodder. The movies have devolved from horror to just action movies with a 3D gimmick to try and get more interested. There are a few nice idea's thrown into the movie, a group trapped in a prison surrounded by the infected, that could of been brilliant... it's a great set-up for a kind of daunting horror, knowing eventually, they'll make it in... but the opportunity was wasted. This movie series is in an identity crisis, forgetting what made the games good, and just going for mindless action, it's made worse by the fact that the movies sell tickets, whilst the superior animated movies are over looked, capcom noticing how well the movies do, then changed the games to copy the movies mindless action. This has gone a bit off track, but I think I've nailed a few points in, the movie is no more then a mindless action movie that tries desperately to please fans, but just lets down all the time. If you're a fan of the series, I don't advise you to watch this with any expectations.
