The final part of the videogame-derived Resident Evil trilogy is the least boring. Faint praise, perhaps, but one... read more on Time Out
I am an absolutely huge fan of Resident Evil, having played all the games and loved both Resident Evil 1 & 2 movies.
However, the 3rd instalment just didn't cut it at all:
It was extremely short,
The ending was not so much a cliffhanger, but more like the rest of the movie was missing,
The signature mutant monster was unbelievably rubbish and the actor obviously forgot how to act once he was in full make-up!
Alice is so busy utilising her mutant super-powers, she doesn't do much of what she does best - kick ass!
Resident evil is based on a pretty good story, so I was really disappointed how much they messed up with this one - I hope the fourth movie ends the saga fittingly, or the whole series will really be heading for extinction.
Not impressed!!
When you rent a title like this you pretty much know what to expect, and of the action movie genre the Resident Evil trilogy are amongst the most enjoyable. This latest offering is just as entertaining as the two previous movies, high paced action and well constructed story line that follows smoothly through all three films. The story picks up where Resident Evil 2 left off, only now the virus has spread and the world is over-run by the infected creating a 28 Days Later/Land of the Dead feel. Alice and a group of survivors must battle their way through the infected whilst the Umbrella Corp continue to pursue the walking zombie killer Alice. The acting is fine for this kind of movie and the pace is high making for entertaining viewing almost throughout, my only real criticism was the ending, it was so tacky and thoughtless. Overall fans of the genre and of the first two movies should enjoy whilst your classic zombie movie fans might also take something from this 3rd movie, a shame they could not end this one in right style. High paced action and an easy watch. 8/10.
The UK box office chart saw a shake-up this week with six new entries and a wide selection of genre films entering the top ten. An animated tale of food-loving rats, Ratatouille, hit the top spot, followed by Resident Evil: Extinction, a sci-fi thriller with tons of action and a lot of gore. AC Nielsen's chart placed The Heartbreak Kid at three, The Kingdom at four and Run, Fat Boy, Run at five, with period drama Atonement at six and Indian comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa entering at six. Another new... Read more
