Mind numbingly boring and tedious

Resistance to what, boredom? Well it wore my resistance down after an hour. Nazi occupation? 5 Germans invade the valley that time forgot. It's basically an arty, long drawn out 'will they or won't they' navel gazing love story with long lingering silences, endless views of wet Wales, a bit of snow and nothing to keep you interested whatsoever. Michael Sheen is hardly seen by the way, another reason to give it a miss.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Marudiman (2 reviews) , 24 May 2013Wanted to see this film for a while as my wife and I have both read the book, and love the area it was set in - the Olchon valley in the Black mountains. The plot followed the book closely, until the final couple of minutes. We enjoyed it - it certainly isn't a blockbuster Hollywood action type film, but a thoughtful representation of the idea of resistance...which can take many forms. If you want films showing sex, violence and cars being blown up, then go to the Die hard/James Bond stuff, if you want a well acted, thoughtful film - try this!- Was this review helpful to you?

Resistance - resist if you can!

Being Welsh it should have meant more to me and I suppose the scenes of farming in the mountains of Mid Wales were interesting and took me back to walks up the mountain with my grandfather to visit relatives. Some of the acting was good, but the story is ridiculous.- Was this review helpful to you?

very slow

I would have expected something a bit more daring than just the filming of a handful of soldiers and old ladies in a old village in Wales. The title is misleading and quickly one realizes that it is just a rather passive and numbing story that we will see. From an 1 hour and a half, 30 minutes could have been cut from it! Boring slow and pointless
By a customer , 07 Feb 2013Thought this would be an action film, there was no story line and no action what so ever, kept watching till the end as thought it would get going soon, it never did, the trailer looks good but the film is so slow its unreal, give this film a miss- Was this review helpful to you?
