In this mawkish romantic comedy drama, a recently widowed architect (David Duchovny) falls in love with the beautiful young waitress (Minnie Driver) who received his late wife's heart in a transplant two years before. It's a rather grisly premise for an otherwise lightweight affair, and actress Bonnie Hunt (Jumanji, Beethoven), here making her directorial debut, struggles to carry it off. Furthermore, Duchovny makes for a dour leading man and Driver is strangely subdued as his impossibly perfect love interest, and their performances pall beside the accomplished support playing of veterans Robert Loggia, Carroll O'Connor and Eddie Jones. Joely Richardson appears briefly as Duchovny's doomed spouse, while Hunt, who co-wrote the screenplay with Don Lake, takes a supporting role.

    Highly recommended

This film is a gem! Isn't it always the way when you don't expect a film to be anything special it just knocks you right off your feet? This is such a film.

I couldn't find fault in this film at all, it's great from start to finish. The music is great and the scenes with the old men sitting around the table in the restaurant are priceless!

Duchovny and Driver are good in the role, roles I didn't think either would pull off but they did. A great romantic light hearted drama that will appeal to most people. Get a nice drop of wine and a take away and settle back with your loved one and enjoy - worth renting.

    Have a Heart!

I found it interesting that the debut feature film of Bonnie Hunt, who wrote, directed & acted in this sweet little Rom Com should have two British Actresses playing the love interest to David Duchovny.

You will know the plot by now but may not be aware of some of the sweet little scenarios that go together to give credibility to what could have been a tragic story.

Cameos by Carroll O'Connor, Robert Loggia, James Belushi and other excellent character actors made this a pleasant little tale of love and committment.

Minnie Driver showed her talents as both a comedienne and a tragic actress, whilst David Duchovny as the broken hearted Architect Bob Rueland demonstrated that he can play the romantic lead.

Frankly, although it did not strike me as the greatest Romance ever filmed, Return To Me was very professional, well shot, nicely written and good to watch.

Well worth the money and only half a pack of tissues required!
