In this sequel to the 1980 original, Richard and Emmeline, the two teens from the first film, and their infant son, set out to sea in a boat. The parents die, but the infant is rescued by a passing ship. Before long, plague breaks out on the ship, and a young woman and her infant daughter take the baby boy and wind up on the very same island where the boy was born. The days become years as three stranded castaways, make a life for themselves. When the woman dies, the two now grown children (Milla Jovovich and Brian Krause) must learn to cope. Their life together is blissful, but not without physical and emotional challenges.

While 1980's The Blue Lagoon — itself a remake of a 1949 film — had a certain grimly humorous value, this sequel lacks even that as Brian Krause — playing the son of Brooke Shields's character from the original — and The Fifth Element's Milla Jovovich experience puberty and nudity on a deserted island. A textbook example of a disaster that amazingly manages not only to contain bad acting and an appalling script, but also some of the most unconvincing love scenes ever committed to film.
A sequel that, once it has disposed of the adult, is virtually a remake of the 1980 version and no better the second time around.
Takes off where the first film left off. The kid survives but not the parents, and then, a little ridiculously, the rescuers all become ill and the kid and a woman (who conveniently has a young child) have to abandon ship and they end up back on the same island! After that it's very much like the original, though not quite so good.
If you liked the first one, you'll like this; if not, don't bother unless you are a keen Milla Jovovich fan. If you haven't seen the original, see it before thinking about the sequel.
Not a patch on the Chris Atkins version. You don't get to see Brian Krause's penis, nor his ass, but you do get a brief glimpse of booby. Krause looks too fat for someone supposedly raised on a tropical island. Avoid.
Model-turned-actress Brooke Shields is making a return to movie theatres - she's landed her first major film role in 10 years. The Blue Lagoon star's acting career has been limited to TV roles in recent years, with appearances in Nip/Tuck, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Two and a Half Men, and the recently axed Lipstick Jungle. But, fresh from her touching tribute to late pal Michael Jackson at his Los Angeles memorial on Tuesday (07Jul09), Shields has scored a part in comedy Furry Vengeance.... Read more
