Tom Hollander is just brilliant as the flawed Rev - witty, wise, soulful, vulnerable, self - hating. His portrayal feels completely authentic, never showy and never without a false note.- Was this review helpful to you?

Rev - What a guy!
By Bengy (1 review) , 11 Jan 2012Throughout this series, I have enjoyed a mixture of highs and lows on the rollercoaster life of Rev. A mixture of superb characters bring this comedy together superbly which got me hooked straight away. It has both happy and genuinely sad scenes, brilliantly directed and acted out with equal brilliance. I highly recommend this to anyone.- Was this review helpful to you?

Gervais too cruel?

Enjoy comedies that empathise with their characters whilst also having something profound to say about life? If not, then don't bother with this one.
Rev is superb. Great ensemble acting, finely drawn characters, and plots that have you laughing and then, 30 seconds later, choking up.
Low key in many respects, it draws you in, wraps you up and takes you on a ride that is very enjoyable and also quite meaningful.
Rent this, view it with an open mind and a glass of something nice and look forward to being transported to a place where values still matter (or if that sounds boring to a place where you can laugh).- Was this review helpful to you?
