There is a theory that every Hollywood star has a turkey or two in their closet, so today, step forward Anthony Edwards, star of the hit TV series ER. In this puerile campus comedy, Edwards is one of the nerds of the title who decide to fight back in spectacular style against the bullying jocks at school. Among the other familiar faces in the cast are Robert Carradine, Thirtysomething's Timothy Busfield and Moonlighting's Curtis Armstrong, and all would undoubtedly wince now at the dire mix of lavatorial humour and tasteless slapstick. Even more amazing is the fact that this went on to spawn three sequels.
Raucous comedy for the intellectually challenged.
Whilst it looks extremely dated nowadays, this is an enjoyable if far from perfect film. The lead actors are likeable and it seemed to start the trend of movies for jocks vs nerds. Also, John Goodman looked about the thinnest I've ever seen him in this! Rent it, enjoy it as 90 minutes of fun then I'm sure you'll forget about it soon after
Personally thought this was a real rib tikkler. Family agreed. Definitely a film for those who enjoy a good giggle and silly slapstick. On par with Animal House,Porkies, etc.
