LOVEFiLM Review

By Helen Cowley from LOVEFiLM
Director Guy Ritchie's Revolver is about a hard-bitten gambler named Jake Green (played by Ritchie favorite Jason Statham).

What on earth..............
By JediSi (301 reviews) from Kent , 17 Aug 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
As a big Guy Ritchie fan I went to see this at the cinema with several mates when it was released and we all left totally and utterly confused. No-one spoke, no-one knew what to say. We simply just didn't see what the film was about, it was.........nothing. I'm sure there's a plot there somewhere but none of us seemed to be able to find it. In an attempt to try and work it all out I watched it again recently, but alas I still couldn't find anything that made sense and the disc got filed in the round file as I cursed at the loss of another 2 hours wasted. No words can really describe this film. It's a complete waste of time and energy, a total washout. I couldn't find any entertainment value whatsoever and highly disuade anyone from watching this tosh.- Was this review helpful to you?

(593)Why you should watch this film.
By a customer , 21 Apr 2013Don't be scared by the negative reviews that this film has received, it may be one of the best films you will ever watch. 'Revolver' is a Guy Ritchie classic, featuring his standard intricate plot. I'm not going to claim to have understood the film fully the first time I watched it, but like most of Ritchie's films, you understand it more after you watch it through twice. The reason why the film has received mixed reviews, ranging from 1* to 5*, is that most people did not give this piece of cinema the time and respect it's due. If you are simply looking for a typical Jason Statham action-explosions-gunfight type movie, you probably won't enjoy 'Revolver' as much. However if you are interested in psychology or a film that is a little bit different from the rest, this is definitely the film for you. 'Revolver' has the comedic elements of other films such as 'Snatch' and 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', while retaining it's power. This is one of the few modern films that will leave you questioning why you do what you, and will change your life for the better. Definitely rent it now, you won't regret it.- Was this review helpful to you?

complete rubbish
By looking (1 review) , 19 Mar 2013This as been 2hours of my life wasted. Initially I thought that the film may be decent, but the further it went on the more confusing it became . Becuse I wished to not go to bed to early I unfortunately stayed till the end and it then became so confusing I am left doubting my own sanity. I wish to end by saying if you will allow me that it is a load of crap.- Was this review helpful to you?

Loved it
By Voxfox (2 reviews) , 08 Mar 2013Loved it. Yes, hard to keep up at times, but I'd say this film puts Mr Ritchie in the league of Tarantino. IMHO.- Was this review helpful to you?

possibly the worst film I have ever (nearly) seen
By GordonVader (105 reviews) from Emerald City, oz , 22 Oct 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Mr Ritchie I can only assume that copius amounts of Class As were consumed in the making of this clanger...
Even then I can't imagine what the hell you were thinking when you shot this atrocity...
I can only assume that the word no! was inaudible as your head was so far up your backside that you were unable to hear it...
I couldn't even finish it... which unfortunatley is more than I can say for you...- Was this review helpful to you?

Ignore the rest!
By Foxyloxy2 (1 review) from Stroud , 15 Jul 2012Great film, classy, ignore the other reviews, expect the unexpected.
Richie has stepped a little outside of the box here.
Touch of David Lynch and Gangster no. 1.
Leaves you confused but in a good way.
Jason Statham is ok in this film, good wig.
Liotta is also pretty good as someone who is clearly going mad. The gloss of the film is excellent, courtesy of Besson I would think.
Andre 3000 is fab in the key role of the film.
Suggest you ignore the reviewers and take a look.
Guy Richie may have his detractors but who cares, this is a solid film.
Go for it, be brave!- Was this review helpful to you?
