From the satirical to the silly, this is masterful stuff
Excruciatingly, bowel-achingly funny
Another exquisitely observed persona
This is brilliant! Very funny, go and buy it, watch it over and over! You will never listen to 'Humpty Dumpty' in the same way again! Gervais is side spittingly funny in this DVD. He pretty much plays the David Brent character, which of course we all love.
The only 'problem' with this title was, it just wasn't long enough! Then again I think if it were 6 hours it still wouldn't be long enough! Very good, we will be buying it, definitely!
Slicker than a tanker with a split hull, faster than a premature ejaculation, subtler than an ulterior motive, able to leap over a pile of duff scripts in a single bound - it's Ricky Gerease, the saviour of the moral soul of the comedic art. Joking aside, it's nearly funny - twice.
Don't be fooled by the title, although at times political it is not a constant theme of the show!
Ricky Gervais at his best, his outrageous, sometimes close to the bone comments may make you cringe with laughter but if you are not easily offended then you'll love it.
He is by no means PC, which makes his brand of humour all the more funny.
The additional extras on the DVD are also funny and Ince is a funny and patient guy!
Generally I'm a fan of American Stand up like Rock, DL, Bernie Mac - who although remain topical are not afraid of being Un PC! I loved it and am prepared to give UK Stand Up's a chance!
It was alright but not as funny as I thought it would be - would still try and see his otehr stand up shows though.
Anyone who has seen Gervais in an interview/accepting numerous awards will know he's pretty much the same as he is playing David Brent, so if you like the office, you've got no worries...
But in its own right, this stand-up gig is world class. He IS a bit condescending and he CAN be a bit predictable but the former just adds to the humour and the latter is remedied by perfect comedy timing.
The hour long set is full of big laughs and the DVD even has a few extras which is quite rare for a stand-up disc. Either get this, or the new Richard Prior DVD, and you'll have one of the two funniest live comedy sets available at the moment.

An ironic title considering the only politics on the DVD could be found in the Extras. Fair enough if the content is funny... but it was very predictable and slapstick. Loved the 'Animals' DVD...I expected so much more from Gervais in this sequel, it simply didnt deliver. His approach was bland and untasteful (and believe me... i adore the blackest of Comedy)
Buy the 'Animals' DVD, Rent 'Politics'... you'll never watch it more than once. Gutted
A good laugh, mainly at the expense of others. Don't watch this if you are easily offended or are anything like my mother. I thought it was very 'amusing' it wasn't laugh out loud all the time, though it did have it's moments, well worth watching the extras. I am a big Gervais fan but I must say I don't think this was as good as Animal. Do I recommend this - Hell Yeah.
Not impressed. The opening sketch is very lame to the point of being sad but the rest gets slightly better.
In short - Don't bother.
Poor performance, I now remember switching this off when it was on TV.
Not as good as 'Animals', Rickys second stand up jaunt was always going to be a tough one. Still riding on the success of The Office, his style is different to others, like Peter Kay and will not appeal to everybody.
Most people will know of 'Gervais' and his comedy style by now. This is pretty much similar ground to the Animals 'lecture' DVD.
As with Animals there's not a great deal to the extras but there is one classic! In he main bit he refers to a bloke called Karl Pilkington from his radio show and his non PC views. On the extras there's an interview with him for about half an hour...this man should have his own DVD!!! Hillarious!
I loved Gervais' Animals DVD and would highly recommend that above this one. Politics just has fewer funny moments, but the highlights were still laugh-out-loud funny. Special mention to the extras (Karl Pilkington interview especially), which are hilarious. Worth getting the DVD for these alone.
