The rating is for the DVD, not the film...By Michael Oglesby from Norwich, UK , 17 Apr 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]Lets get something striaght right away, the rating given is for the DVD, not the film.
The film is a great action thriller and star John Lithgow in his first 'nasty' role, which he plays superbly.
Unfortunately, the DVD does not give this film any justice. It is the worst transfer I have ever seen. Imagine a widescreen film squeeze to fit a fullscreen without the letterbox black bars, the picture is absolute crap as well as the sound, you you would be half way there. There are no extras of any kind. No subtitles and only in English stereo.
I have to say that watching the VHS would be better than watching the DVD. Avoid at all costs, unless you really want to watch this film. You've been warned.

Still goodBy a customer , 20 Oct 2013Watched this film years ago and remembered it being good, rented it and it was still as good as it was back then. Bonus
On The BounceBy Robinski (180 reviews) from Glasgow , 01 Jun 2012A strong opening sequence, reminiscent of titles straight from a Hitchcock movie, bodes well and it's Denzel to the max from the opening frames. 'Ricochet' is very much a product of the 80's in its look and sound, and there's a hard edge and some snappy dialog that really pushes the action forward without pulling any of its numerous punches. This is most likely down to the screenplay being penned by Steven de Souza who wrote Die Hard; DH 2; 48 Hours and Another 48 Hours, some of the previous decades' defining films. John Lithgow's performance is suitably deranged, Kevin Pollack provides solid support (nice impression in the early stages). It's a good story, not without a Hitchcockian twist or two, arguably not particularly polished as a final product, but still a barrel load of kitschy '80's fun. Worth a look, especially for Denzel fans.

Denzel Washington - another great roleBy a customer , 17 Apr 2012Even if the rest of the film is a bit lacking Denzel Washington always brings something great to the mix. This time he was supported by a great plot and good acting. Stressy, edge of the seat stuff at times. Great!
Ricochet 1991By pinty (246 reviews) from South Shields , 18 May 2010This is an old action movie, making the way for movies of today. It had a lot of action throughout the movie and Denzel, say no more always at his very best. Its got a few gory bits in too,Theres always a bad guy in these movies.but i enjoyed it and would watch it again.
brilliant/underratedBy a customer from London , 11 Jul 2009this film starring my favourite actor is underated in my opinion denzel is a cop who shoots a sadistic bloke that is the chilling john lithgow who is at his chilling worst very good acting the plot is because of denzel arresting him he takes it really bad and wants to exact a terrible revenge from behind the bars firstly he escapes and then sets ubout ruining his carrer with sordid implications about his life abd that of his working partner a real cat and mouse chat that had me on the edge of my seat a very good watch if not for the brilliant john lithgow
