Good news and bad news
By chastenor (2 reviews) from Milton Keynes, England , 28 Aug 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
First the bad news - this is a poor quality print of a black and white film made in Italian with English subtitles which are frequently unreadable. But there is lots of good news. This is a good film, moving and rewarding in itself. And then there is Gigli. By 1942 when this was made his voice was not as beautiful as it had been, nevertheless the singing is magnificent. There is a ravishing mezza-voce in Prendi, l'anel ti dono, and the arias from Pagliacci are convincing and moving. A must for Gigli fans and lovers of great singing.- Was this review helpful to you?
