A banal overly sentimental movie about an estranged father and son relationship and how the father tries to win back some sort of relationship with his son. Time really drags while you watch this movie. It gives World Cinema a bad name.
Forget it and try Cave of the Yellow Dog or Spring Summer Autumn Winter Spring
This is one of the best movies I have seen, a wonderful Chinese-Japanese combined efforts. It is a typical Zhang Yinmou's uncarved little gems, a seemingly plain story of normal people, but the true human spirits shining through. It is superbly acted by Japanese and Chinese actors, so powerfully touches one's soul. Meantime, the sense of humour is all so organic and genuin, I am sure, it can be appreciated without the language boundery.
