I don’t know at what age the NYPD retires its homicide detectives, and no one ever comes out and says that Danny Glover line, “I’m getting too old for this shit”, but... read more »
Ok,I'll cut straight to the chase-this is quite probably the worse film I have seen so far this year.De Niro AND Pacino playing a couple of veteran, maverick cops in a New York set thriller, this is going to be awesome right?Well,er,no actually wrong.Where to begin? A very poor script, two of the most tired performances either actor has ever given,a twist a chimp could telegraph fifteen minutes into proceedings, and a plot that the writers of Kojak would've rejected for being too far-fetched.The only reason I stuck with this and didn't walk out,was the fact that De Niro and Pacino have featured in some of the best films of the last 30 years. This is most definitely not one of them. It's painful watching these two screen acting heavyweights spout second rate TV movie dialogue, and looking like they only turned up for the paycheck.I never thought I'd say this about a film starring two of my all-time favourite actors, but here goes-AVOID.
I have read the two critic's reviews and some others, but to say these two great favs are the oldest in the film, when the lovely Brian Dehenay now looks as craggy as screwed up paper, with his teeth looking too big for his mouth, is not fair, not at all fair. Yes I was disappointed to see Al looking older than ever despite his mop of hair, and Robert fuller in the face than before, but this is what happens when you do not go under the knife, and if they have, well great cos you would not know it.
To say that it was mindless rubbish is wrong, I put off seeing this on download for months as reports like this put me off, but its not rubbish, not great but far from some of the dross dished up recently by the big names. Lets look after our veterans of the screen, Heat will never be beaten, that last part in the airfield still makes me duck in my seat. They have a chemistry which I agree did not come over, but they are and always will be the finest two actors I have ever been priviledged to watch and will continue to watch, so come on peeps give them a break.
Rapper-turned-actor 50 Cent has had laser surgery on his arm to remove some of his tattoos - because he spends too long in the make-up chair on movie sets trying to cover them up. The In Da Club star has carved out a career for himself in Hollywood with roles in films like 2008's Righteous Kill, in which he starred alongside legends Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, and he's scored a part in the forthcoming Sharon Stone movie, Streets of Blood. But 50 Cent admits directors often ask him to hide... Read more
