Grumpy Old Cops

Ok,I'll cut straight to the chase-this is quite probably the worse film I have seen so far this year.De Niro AND Pacino playing a couple of veteran,maverick cops in a New York set thriller,this is going to be awesome right?Well,er,no actually wrong.Where to begin? A very poor script,two of the most tired performances either actor has ever given,a twist a chimp could telegraph fifteen minutes into proceedings,and a plot that the writers of Kojak would've rejected for being too far-fetched.The only reason I stuck with this and didn't walk out,was the fact that De Niro and Pacino have featured in some of the best films of the last 30 years.This is most definitely not one of them. It's painful watching these two screen acting heavyweights spout second rate TV movie dialogue,and looking like they only turned up for the paycheck.I never thought I'd say this about a film starring two of my all-time favourite actors,but here goes-AVOID.

Righteous Kill

An absolute waste of time & electricity. Possibly the most mind numbingly insipid, weak, inane, degrading, piece of rubbish ever committed to screen. I categorically can guarantee that this film will leave you bewildered as to how two once incredible (once I'm using the past tense for these guys now) actors managed to read the script and:

1. Believe it to have enough merit to make into a film

2. Lower their screen personas, personalities and history to such an extent I have no respect for them anymore

3. To act so diabolically that it felt like I was watching a low budget amateur porn film

4. To ever be able to show their faces again in public, to their families and to ever refer to themselves as actors ever again.

If you want a thrill, please just eat chilli con carne up your nose with a straw instead of watching this piece of utter dogs mince.

Great film with great actors!

Just saw this in the USA (Sept 08) - what can I say, you get the performances that you would expect from these two brilliant actors - very good - nothing more to add!

Bad bad bad bad bad! seriously, it's W*nk! just look at all the crap DeNiro has been in recently and what the hell has Pacino done in the last 10 years? methinks some fanboy sent this to one of them who saw an opportunity for a couple of over the hill heavyweights to grab some easy cash. Great cast, awful script and even worse director, don't waste your time.

Righteous Kill

De Niro and Pacino back on screen since HEAT and this time on the same side. The film gives a good pace to the story that unfolds with the new york cop partners de niro and pacino.A well worked script and with great supporting talents such as Donnie Wallberg, John Leguizamo not to mention the 'long time,no see' Brian Dennehay as their captain is a great watch not only to see the two great stars on screen together again,but also a very enjoyable film to watch.

A good American cop film.

This film really isn't as bad as most reviews would suggest. I was pleasantly surprised in fact. Having read numerous reviews, I was almost put off to the point of not watching it. But I thought, 'Pacino...Ne Niro...? How can a film with such established actors be so bad?' And you know what? It wasn't. It is what it is. A good American cop film, with two of the greatest actors of all time. The dialogue and plot, in my opinion, really doesn't deserve the hammering they seem to have got by the majority of reviewers, and 'the twist' is great. Would I watch it again? Probably not for a few years; but Righteous Kill is nonetheless a good film.

It was great.

Al Pacino is a classic and he brings his own unique brand of personality to this film.De Niro does what De Niro does best plays the hard nosed doesn't give a sh** about anything cop.

A thoroughly enjoyable film.Two cops who don't believe that conficted crims would get of on techniqualities should get away with it.

Just a good film much better than the new one with Colin Farell.Better of with phonebooth or the one in Amsterdam in my opp.

Evening all

Not sure why there's been so much vitriol hurled at this movie...the point is that the two cops are old. Yes, they're nearing the end of their careers so why is that so unlikely? Aren't there any old policemen in NY? Yup De Niro and Pacino are getting older too, wouldn't that therefore make them correct for the respective parts? Anyway there's a fairly predictable hook to the movie but it rattles along quite nicely and for those who enjoy cop thrillers I don't think it dissapoints. It's not a classic but enjoyable all the same. Carla Gugino is a nicely twisted defender of the law too. 4 star.

OMG! Teee-wisted or what!!

Two of the greatest actors De Niro & Pacino together again. I would've wanted more from this film seeing as these two guys have made many a great movie and are superb on the big screen. But this movie was much like others I have seen before, a regular cop movie.

But it has a very unexpected twist, I did *not* see that coming! But once you know what happens you're like 'oh yeah how could I not have seen that'. Worth a watch but don't put it on the high priority list...
