  • And so The Ring has come full circle...

    [Highly rated reviewer]

Ring 0 is a prequel to the Ring films, featuring Sadako as a teenager who joins a drama club. Alienated from everyone else, they start to resent the fact that the director believes she has talent and that she is getting all of his attention. Meanwhile a reporter is investigating Sadako's mother but soon realises that Sadako herself is very strange... And that's when the deaths start occuring...

This film completely contradicts what was shown in the previous Ring films, with Sadako palyed by am older teen in this film. If this were true to Ring lineage, then Sadako was drowned around the age of 10-12, which just adds more to the convulated plot of the series as a whole.

The story plays out like Carrie somewhat, with Sadako being picke on by her fellow students and her using her powers to wreak her revenge. However, it just isn't that terribly interesting and it isn't until the last ten minutes that the plot bothers to return to that of the previous Ring films.

If this film was it's own individual, rather than part of the Ring series, it may have been OK. However, in giving it the Ring title, certain expectations are expected of it, and these expectations were not met at all.

Despite the lead actresses strong role as Sadako, this film falls flat on it's face. This is not a true Ring film and as such cannot be judged as such. There is no point in getting this if you expect another wild ride like the original.

  • Creepy Japanese Horror with Subtitles - Awesome

Fantastic film and definately worth the watch. I have no idea why it is classed as World Cinema - Italian. It is a Japanese Horror film and is in Japanese with English Subtitles. Fantastic. I so prefer these films in their original language rather than dubbed. Watch at night, with the heating off, in the dark with friends who don't talk through the film and who really appreciate the genre. Epic!

may have been a good film but reading subtitles isn't my idea of watching a film....should be more clear that it's in japanese and as subtitles.

Awesome, satisfactory conclusion to this sequel. Well acted and filmed, no need for special effects as it is creepy enough as it is.

  • Not just a horror, but a devastating love story

This J-horror has many defining qualities that make it one of the most spectacular of the genre, and the best out of the Ringu quadrilogy.

The beautiful love story grabs you by both arms and sucks you in, filling you with emotion and attaching you to the characters. You really want the best for the couple and this part of the film itself is enough, that a part of you forgets it's a horror movie and hope that nothing scary happens at all, simply because it stands alone as a romantic drama.

It is definitely worth watching, and I am certain that viewers will not be disappointed.
