Most helpful review Ring 2

    [Highly rated reviewer]

Ring 2 follows on directly from where the original left off, with the same characters and plot. Reiko is still trying to find a way to stop the curse of the video once and for all, but is worried because her son is starting to display the same kind of psychic powers that were inherent with Sadako before she was killed...

The engaging story fromt he original film is mostly gone now, with only the quest to learn more about Sadko and stop her taking centre-stage. The feeling of dread as time wore on which was so prevalent in the original, is not present at all here, since the orginal revealed how to stop the powers of the videotape.

The plot becomes even mroe convoluted with lots of psychobabble talk about auras and psychikinetic energy and what not, and it not only lets this film down, but startes to drag the original down with it.

The last 15 minutes are engaging and finally get us back into the swing of what we enjoyed about the original so much, but getting to that point is boring and even painful to watch.

If you want to be a Ring completist, by all means rent this, however, if you want the great memories of the original to remain untarnished, avoid like the plague.

I was looking forward to watching this movie, but it was really quite disappointing, though there were some interesting parts. Should have kept it closer to the format of the first movie which was excellent.

Although this film may suffer in that it is slightly more methodical than the original, it is however essential in explaining exactly what the hell happens in Ring.

It cannot be denied that this film isn't as scary as the original but however must be seen in the context of the trilogy. Ring isn't only about fear and terror but instead combines a myriad of emotions and feelings as this film shows.

Video tape still circulates and the curse is somewhat transformed in this sequel that introduces some new touches to the original shocker. There are scary moments and the plot is unpredictable enough to keep you guessing what next. The director went on to do remake of it in Hollywood I think.

I was warned that Ring 2 wasn't as good as the original. The beginning of the film did seem to allay this fear, but as it went on its quality and

sense of credibility unravelled. The movie is only worth a watch if you are a completist and feel the need to read and see everything Ring

    related.
