LOVEFiLM Review

By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM
Rise of the Planet of the Apes manages to do right where Tim Burton went wrong, resulting in one of the summer's best blockbusters.

keep up Mr. Charity
By a customer , 08 Aug 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
Not a review of the film, but a comment on Tom Charity's review. Bright Eyes was the pet name given to Charlton Heston's character Taylor by Zira in the original Planet of the Apes film in 1967, five years before Watership Down was published. The name Bright Eyes used in this film is reference to that, and nothing to do with Watership Down. I think it's you who needs to keep up Mr. Charity.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Camby (6 reviews) , 22 Apr 2013A good origins story for the series of films. Great character animation for the apes and Andy Serkis again shows his talents.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great film with action and depth
By a customer , 21 Mar 2013I don't normally like new versions of classic films but this one had me gripped from the start. While I understand complaints from some that the plot is predictable, if it wasn't it might as well be called something else! For me it offered something very new and modern and carried a different but real edge that made me very tense and keen to see how it unfolded. I enjoyed the relationship between the main character and the ape and feel this added an extra dimension and emotional investment to the story which might have otherwise simply focussed on wanting the apes to win. I found myself feeling sympathy for both human and ape and I could see the vulnerability in both, which shows the depth portrayed in the film. In short, I really enjoyed this and it left me wanting more.- Was this review helpful to you?

Awesome, you need to watch
By Niknoks (18 reviews) from Bexhill-on-Sea , 17 Mar 2013This has to be one of my most fave films of all time. I spent the film going between awe and lip trembling. Incredible to say the absolute least- Was this review helpful to you?
