The American Dream

I haven't enjoyed a film so much for years.
Forget your recent American Pie(s), Road Trip etc, etc. This is the original adolescent movie. Quite similar to Ferris Buellers day off only the humour is a lot more subtle. It also has Rebecca DeMornay in it, and obviously Tom Cruise in one of his first roles.
If you have seen the recent "Girl Next Door" film, you will realise how much influence this film has had especially in recent years.

Just about ok

and was pleasantly surprised by the first quarter of the film.
I thought it would have dated badly but thought initially it held its own and there was some nice touches by the director.
Half way through though the film started to lose its momentum, and was quite pleased when it ended. It isn't very long at 1hr 35 but felt it struggled to keep itself going.
A previous review commented negatively about Tom Cruise's acting. Considering it was at the very start of his career I thought he handled himself well. I get tired of people who say he can't act for the sake of it.- Was this review helpful to you?
