Excellent DVD showing the cast of Riverdance at their best. The dancing was spectacular, the music was great the only thing that was slightly boring were the singers but I suppose they were an essential part of the show to allow the dancers to change outfits/shoes etc. The Flamenco dancer was brilliant as were the two Tap Dancers. All in all - makes you want to take up Irish Dancing! Well worth watching.
I saw Riverdance earlier this year (2009) at Plymouth Pavillions, and enjoyed it a lot - but this version is better. (The Pavillions is comparatively small, so the number of performers tends to be cut back a bit).
The show has evolved since the NYC performance (we are talking 13 years after all), but has always had the same basic format. This is an excellent DVD, with full surround sound making it quite an experience, if you're lucky enough to have it (if not, take it to a friend's house !).
Wonderful dancing, super music, and plenty of variation, even if a couple of the acts did seem to drag a bit.
If you've never seen Riverdance, you probably never will ('farewell' tour was the one we saw), but I don't think you'll get much better than this.
